Q Has any European woman golfer managed 20 top-20 finishes without winning? Clement Fredericks, Ipswich
<p>A Perhaps the most high-profile example is Sophie Sandolo, a 28-year-old Italian on the Ladies European Tour. She turned professional in 1999, and while everybody was concentrating on her looks, she quickly proved that she knows her way around a golf course. Although she is still looking for that breakthrough victory, she has earned six top-10 finishes and has been in the top 20 on 20 occasions. She was born in Nice and enjoyed a brilliant amateur career. To date, the highlight of her professional career has been finishing second in the 2003 Spanish Open. But she has been in the headlines recently for very different reasons. Golf still has a rather staid image, but Sandolo believes the game should be fun and has done her level best to wreck that image by releasing a sexy calendar. She poses nude on the front cover and is sure to cause a stir as the 2005 season gets under way.
